Who else is embarrassed by the US's performance in the olympics so far?
US athletes seem to think that they are unbeatable and completely ruin their medal thances by showing off. Bode Miller is the worst offender, followed by Apollo Ohno, and then MIchelle Kwan. I love my country, and I'm proud when we win, but sometimes these people need some humble pie. Your thoughts?

i'm not at all. bode miller and michelle kwan were dissapointing, but Shaun White got the gold for mens halfpipe. Hannah Teter got the gold for womens halfpipe. the snowboarding outfits that burton designed for the u.s. team are so cool. anyway, its still early, so you shouldn't be mad at our athletes yet. there are lots more chances to get medals.Embarrased? We are in second place behind NORWAY right now... and we are not even a third of the way through the winter events. No I am not embarrased. If you look at events and how much of our team places and qualifies compared to other countries, we are VERY well represented. Life happens, so far our athletes have conducted themselves with grace, and with good sportsmanship, so No... I am definately NOT embarrassed. As long as our represenatives have fun and try their hardest while bringing home some medals I am happy. First of all, why are you embarrassed by the athletic performance of another person? Did you do something to screw them up? On the other hand, why do good performances make you proud? Are you coaching them?When it comes to ego, at that level of competition, you better go in with the attitude that you are going to win or you might as well stay home.
As for Michelle Kwan, it was her finish at the last world championship that allowed the U.S. to have an additional skater compete. So in effect, the U.S. "owed" it to her to let her have that slot. As soon as she knew that she was not going to be able to skate, she notified the officials and they called the alternate. She is, and always has been, a class act.

Heck no! Why should I be embarressed by people trying to do their best on the world stage? Winning gold is not the most important thing. Like the commentators said during the opening ceremonies, most of the atheletes that are participating in the Olympics will never be in medal contention and are there for the experience and to have a chance to represent their country. Yes, there will always be people who are all talk, but I think that they are a VERY small minority. Shame on you for being so materialistic.Now I would like to comment about your what you said about Apolo Ohno. Apparently you don't know anything about him because if you got to know him, you would be really proud of him. He is a very humble, respectable person and everybody should try to be more like him. He has always takes responsibilty of things that he knows he has control over, he's not boisterous, he's graceful, and he doesn't go around saying negative things about other people.
