How does one qualify to enter the US Olympic team?
Question:Hi there,
I have always wondered how one goes about applying and/or joining the US Olympic team. I would love to make it into the Olympics one day and feel that I could actually make it there, but first I have to figure out where or how I apply and what the qualifying requirements are.
If anyone can help I would be truly grateful. If you know any links, websites, have any knowledge of the process or even just a few words, please know that I appreciate it all!
Thanks and I can't wait to hear your responses. :)
P.S. My sports are: Snowboarding, fencing, rowing, tennis, gymnastics, figure skating and archery.

Does anyone really recognize gymnastics as a sport?
It depends a lot on the sport. In gymnastics for example, you have to move up the competitive levels(4,5, 6, 7,8,9,10, elite) until you are an elite gymnast. You would then need to qualify for the national championships at one of the qualifier meets. Then at the national championships, you would have to place high enough to make the national team. From there, you would be given national and international meet assignments such as the American Cup, and would need to build a reputation up. Every year you have to requalify to the national team. In an Olympic year, Olympic trials are held shortly before the Olympics. The process changes a lot, but most recently the top 2 from Trials were guaranteed a spot at the Olympics. Then a special camp was held for the other top qualifiers to determine the final line up. Only a handful of people ever make elite, and a smaller amount still make the national team. I know that figure skating works in a similar fashion. I dont' know much about the other sports qualification, but I would bet it would be similar.Edited to add: At least for gymnastics and figure skating, you would need to be competing at the elite level by about age 15 to have any chance of making the team. The other sports would probably be a bit more forgiving :)
2012 OlimpicGames --> Which country?
u have to first play for your place and then you can qualifyyou need to figure out one sport you excel in, not 7
Why did the torino medals have a hole in the middle?
I would probably pick the lesser known of the sports or the newest to the Olympic line up. Snowboarding is fairly new maybe that should be the avenue you should go. Pick one and excell at that particular sport. Good Luck!I've not watched or read any news on Winter Olympics so far..?
You have to meet two criteria:1. You have to be capable of winning a gold medal. If the US can't win, then it doesn't want to play.
2. You have test clean for dope. You're of no value if you can't hide it; every Yank athlete is dirty.
