Great news, especially considering the other world cities it was up against, like Paris, New York, Moscow, and Madrid. Those aren't exactly small hick towns!

It will completely regenerate an area in the east of the city which has been in need for nearly 50 years. The cost is definitely worth it.

It will be great for tourism and hotels and restaurants but it always costs far more than the host country estimates. It could be very dear indeed. But they have the infrastructure and London is one of the world's great cities so it could be fantastic.
