nope i disagree with the ugly stick the handles cause discomfort i belive a Quantam is the best chice but berkly lightning rods are just as goodPopeil's Pocket Fisherman. as for fly fishing you cant get a decient rod
for under 200 bucks
mine is a st.croix that was given to me by my
grandfather when he tought my to fly fish and
i've never fished a rod that was smoother
but they run about 350-400 bucks

Just make sure the fishing rod is best suited to what you will be fishing for. For example A 6.5 foot medium/heavy action 3/8 - 1.00 ounce bait cast, would be for bass fishing with plastic worms or jigs. I have found that this is a good rod for all most any bass lure with the exception of very light weight baits.Curing fish eggsto use for bait?
I'd have to go with the Ugly-Sticks too. They make 'em from ultralight to heavy actions. I love 'em all.It's good advice though to match your pole with the fish you are targeting. A medium pole works well for almost any basic freshwater game fishing.

Ugly stick? Nah if you want good quality you have to pay for it. I use an Abu-Garcia Conolon med action rod. It has great guides and is a great rod to feel the sensitive pickups. You can get one at Walmart for about 40-50 bucks. I love mine, it feels and is a great quality rod. Have fun and keep the wind at your back.Hooked Handgun while fishing!?
slow done.why pay that much.your penns ticas top of line shimanos etc,are all expensive.campare prices and styles.for example shakesphere puts out a beautiful graphitrod for 13 dollars in walmart.similar rod in tica cost40 to 60dollars.also it saves a lot of heartache if they break.and they sometimes do.anyway graphit is the way to go.no matter how long they are in a bent position weather in use or storage they do not set in a bow shape unlike fiber and composite rods.should stay straight for lifeMore Questions & Answers...
