What lures should I use in muddy water?
I need answers now! I am leaving in 30 min to fish in a lake with muddy water due to 9 days of off and on rain. What would be some more successful lures to catch some bass?
Answers:
If spinnerbaits and crankbaits aren’t producing bass, slow your retrieve. If you still aren’t catching fish, change the lure style or size. Even lures of the same kind often produce different vibrations. A change in style and size changes the pattern of vibration, which can change the response of bass.

I would use a top floater or a small range diver. Make sure the lure is heavy on the bright colors and reflectiveness. Twitch the lure and count to five. Slowly reel the lure in and twitch it while retrieving it. Repeat this and you are bound to catch something. Happy fishing

What are some upgrades i can put on my tippmann a5 to help performance??
Think of it this way, when the fish can't see very far, you need to go out of your way to get its attention. When the water's clear and the fish are keen, you need to go out of your way to select an incredibly lifelike lure. That being said, In muddy water, make sure you use something that fish will know is there even if they can't see it. I suggest a spinnerbait because of the vibration it puts out as well as the flashes of the blades. I would use a darker color because they tend to stick out a little bit better in muddier water. Another good choice is a silver Rat-L trap. This is another lure that puts out a lot of vibration and is also flashy. You can use jigs if you want, but make sure you select one that has rattles on it. Just like the other two, a jig w/ rattles on it will cause sound/vibration that will be picked up by a fish even if it can't see the lure. Sometimes, because I'm such a soft plastic kinda guy, I'll use them in muddy water although I don't prefer to (always willing to switch when nothing's biting though). When I switch to soft plastics in the mud, I use bigger ones. I'll use a 10.5" magnum worm, 8" lizards, 5" tubes - basically I upgrade everything. And this last nugget is just personal discovery, I've noticed that a dark red color works well in the mud when using soft plastics.
NOW - this is paramount when fishing in the mud. Because a fish can't see the lure due to unsettled sediment in the water, make sure you cast to the same spot several times. This is what I do in muddy water - On the first cast, hit a spot that looks good and jerk on the line like crazy. Reel like crazy and jerk again. What this does is increase the vibrations which ultimately causes fish to respond and come looking for the lure. On the second cast, slow it down a bit and use the retrieve you intend to use to seal the deal (i.e. slow roll, stop and go, etc.). Because the fish can't see the lure, you have to hit the same spot a few times that way once he hears it the first time and comes looking, you're putting it in the same spot a few times. If you hit a spot once and then go elsewhere, he'll head to that spot and you'll be fishing somewhere else.
Sorry it's late, I was out catchin mine yesterday evening. Hope it'll help in the future though.
