How do sight in a scope on a rifle?
What happens if you use a scope at a distance closer than what the scopes parallax is?
Answers:
If what you are firing at is closer than parallax, you will hit low, if it's past, you'll miss high.
I put a target at the distance I want to sight into, then I put the gun in a position thats easily repeatable. repeatability is the key, the gun MUST be in the same placement while sighting to have any sort of accuracy.
my father used to pound two nails into a piece of wood and set the guns stock on them, making sure to place the gun in the same position each time before firing a sighting round.
