First and for most if you going out after big game that bites you need to consider a bigger side arm, I love my 357 magnum but it’s not my first choice on the big bears. You may wont to rethink this and opt for a 44 magnum at least.
I don’t know what you chasing in the woods but if it bites you need knock down power.
So you opt for the larger bullets 180gr or 200gr.
Unless you reload then I would load the Barnes 140gr XPB it’s 100% copper bullet like the X-bullets and the 140gr Copper bullet has the stopping power of a 180gr lead jacketed bullet.
That the only reason I would use a 140gr is if it’s 100% copper.
If your hunting deer or wild pig or even elk the 150gr jacketed HP is good enough.
And the 140gr or 150gr have a lot flatter trajectory then the heaver 165gr to 200gr bullets.
I have attached links for factory ammo if you don’t reload.
I like the Cor-Bond best of all.

What size hooks should you use when fishing for trout in a lake?
The 180 gr Noslers are the ticket. Is this considered a nice sized bass, is this a nice lure for bass fishing?
It would help greatly for you to be a little more specific in your decription of predator. That could be anything from a cougar to wolf to black bear. Although all 3 can and will eat you on occasion, they each take a little different type of load to not just kill em, but to STOP the attack ASAP! On the BIG bitters I would use the CorBon 200gr Hard Cast cartridge for two reasons; high energy with the ability to punch through heavy, thick hide and break large bones while penetrating deeply to shut down the neural system and creat massive bleeding; IF I had to use the .357 in the first place. Personally, I carry a Ruger Blackhawk .41 Magnum w/4 5/8" bbl. loaded with the CorBon 265gr HardCast FP unless I plan on using it as my main hunting weapon. But thats a whole nother question. Good luck on your hunt..357 is to lite of a bullet for any big game. A .44 mag would do a much better job, which has much more knock down.
Anyone know anything about fishing around Gadsden, AL? Kinds of fish in area? What baits to use?
For North American big cats the .357 Magnum with 158 Federal Hydra Shok will work. For bear and boar I'd probably use the 180 Federal hard-cast lead hunting bullet. However, this is JUST for backup, not the primary hunting weapon because the .357 Magnum is a bit light for the really big bears and boars or cats bigger than cougars.Good luck.
