Camping ideas?

I want to do something out of the norm for a vac. I been to Disney twice and the Caribean I want to go campng with a bunch of friends and our families, need some ideas as far as where should we go (I'm from NYC) and what shall we do while there for ourselves as well as our children which range from 2 years old to 14 years old, not sure what to do have never been camping but would like to corridate a trip, so any help would be grateful. I would think 3 to 4 days should be fine so no one gets bored or home sick.

I'd say plan at least a half day of travel so you would be able to set up camp properly while there is still some daylight left. Nothing like stumbling around in the dark trying to put a tent together. Also, try putting the tent(s) together at home while you aren't under the gun and be sure you aren't missing any pieces. This might be a possibility if you buy your tent(s) at a chain discount store.
Activities? Fishing, hiking, wildlife hunting (use a camera). I've brought a mountain bike with me before and covered some serious ground in a few hours. Pick up a scouting book to try some nature craft activities - tracking animals, stargazing, knot tying, fire building, foraging, shelter building, cooking or even orienteering - try a scavenger hunt for the older kids - bring a nice loot for them.

Is airsoft legal in public places?

I would suggest the Adirondack Mountains, in particular, the Lake George area. Not only is it very scenic and peaceful, but the town on Lake George has amusement parks to keep the kids occupied.

If you do go stay in Lake George, a day trip to Lake Placid would be a possiblity for the group. Not only the Olympic venues to see but a drive to the top of Whiteface Mountain, a short distance out of Lake Placid, is awesome!!

Spitfire skateboard company?

why not camp in the Adirondacks? that shouldn't be to far of a drive from NYC.
camping can be a great memorable experience for all ages. fishing and hiking are a couple of activities. the kids can have fun seeing any wildlife. personaly I find it fun just for the simplicity of things. finding wood for a campfire can be an expedition all by itself (check local regulations on collecting first, if its not allowed they usualy sell some at ranger stations). hot dogs on an open fire is fun for kids and easy to make. and eating the fish you catch is satisfying too (bring extra food just in case they weren't biting that day). with friends and families hopefuly there will be lots of comradery and stories around the campfire at night.

I hope this helps. good luck!
