What's a good overnight backpacking hike in California's central or high Sierra Nevada for mid-September?

We're looking to head up this weekend, start first thing Saturday morning, camp somewhere beautiful in wilderness and preferably at altitude, and wrap up by late afternoon Sunday for the drive back to the San Francisco Bay Area. Want to hike 8-10 miles per day. Loop trails preferred!

Ditto the vote for Kennedy Meadows. It's up Highway 108 just before the Sonora Pass. Many hiking trails, several lakes and gorgeous scenery. Have fun!
