If you need to refill your bait supply at night, shine a spotlight in the water. It will eventually attract all of the zooplankton that minnows and shad feed on. Then use a net to catch them. If you're into crappie fishing, my husband and I found that the fishing was much better at night just fishing below and around the light that was attracting all of the smaller fish.
