Sounds like you're describing Norinco, a CHINESE company, not Canadian.
Regarding the Canadian angle, importation of Norinco arms is prohibited into the US, but they are available in Canada. Maybe that's where some of the confusion comes from.

Where is archery lessons in pensacola, fl 32506?
They're not Canadian, they're Chinese. You're talking about Norinco. Their stuff ranges from Crap to Outstanding, unfortunately without any rhyme or reason and any given Norinco firearm could be anywhere along the spectrum. As an example, when I was in High School I had a friend whose father and older brother each bought a Norinco 1911. They were purchased on the same day, from the same dealer, who had received them in the same order. The serial numbers were within 100 of each other. One was a fabulous weapon, accuate and functioned flawlessly to this day (thirty years later). The other was loose, rattled, inacurate had pieces breaking within the first hundred rounds and ended up welded into a piece of sculpture. I've owned two Norinco SKS's (they used to make an SKS that was modified to take AK magazines), one was great, the other crap.
They are cheap though.
Good Luck.
