Some of the best calls to use when you are just starting out turkey hunting are box calls or slate calls. These calls are fairly simple to master and they are also very effective. There are also many different varieties of push button calls on the market today that are great for beginner callers. Diaphragm calls are personally my favorite type of call and are the most realistic sounding when mastered. However, this is by far the hardest call to learn how to use. One thing to remember is that no matter what type of call you choose, it will take hours of practice before you will be able to coax that ol' gobbler into shotgun range. Also, I have found that a sound knowledge of turkey behavior and knowing your hunting grounds well can equally important factors to a successful turkey hunt. My personal favorite if I was just starting out again would be the slate and striker. The one i have looks like a chalk board and makes some awesome clucks and purrs and yelps and even cackles. Sat down a couple days ago and hadn't used it much this season and clucked real lightly and within ten minutes and sitting along a fenceline with just a few trees I had a hen come in real quiet like. I'm just saying to me they make the most realistic calls. I know there's all kinds of opinions out there and you have to use whatever is best for you.What is a good sniper rifle for a 15 year old?
