What is a good lake for a beginner bass angler in Southern California?

I am trying very hard to go fishing as much as I can. I haven't caught any bass other than babies at a nearby man made pond. (The pond only holds babies at this point) What is a good lake that isn't too difficult to catch bass in the 2 lbs. and up range? I just want the experience of a good catch to learn from. It is getting hard to find a place that is good for beginners, and I searched all over. Thanks for your help
