Is it OK to tie a swivel w/safety snap to your line & then just snap on lures?
I'm always wanting to switch lures, especially when trying for bass. Rather than tying on a new lure every 5 minutes, is it OK to just tie a swivel w/ safety snap and then just use the safety snap to change lures? I'm talking about with top water rapallas, deep divers, spinners, jigs w/whatever & even a plain old hook. It seems like this would be the easy way to go, but I think I remember hearing long ago that I shouldn't, for some reason.

Take the time to tie your knot, it doesn't take that long. Swivel/snaps are highly visable, and they effect the action of the lure. I've also seen them break, and bend.Trolling motor for patio boat?

Hogwash!here is the rule for using snap swivels.
if the lure has its own action. (crankbaits, spoons, etc) use a snap swivel (the smallest one you can get away with.) if you have to give the lure action (spinnerbaits, swimbaits, worms, etc) tie your line directly to the lure or hook. (always tie your line directly to your soft plastic.) I use snap swivels all the time and they have never affected my fishing.
if you don't want the fish to see your snap swivel while using crankbaits. put a split ring on the line tie of your crank and learn how to tie a "King Sling" loop. put this look in the end of your line and just attach your line by opening the split ring and putting the loop into the ring, simple as that.
but for the most part don't worry about the fish seeing the snap especially if you fish stained or off colored water.

Sure it is okay. For me the better way to go about it is to tie directly to the split ring on hard baits equipped with them or to use a loop knot on baits like Rapala minnows that aren't designed with split rings. Remember anything you add to a lure will affect it's weight and action in the water. This can be used to or against your advantage. Personally, I don't like using swivels on anything other than a Carolina rig.they seem to always pick up weed, grass or other junk floating or submerged in the water.
Great answers!
Not only is it OK, it is better in most situations.
I have used a snap to quickly change out my lures for a while now and have not had one fail me yet.
