You need to fish with a floating thing close to the surface, smaller fish but a lot more.Would you or have you ever skydived, why or why not?
hang your weight closer to the middle of line..or not on bottom..and don't drag your hook on the bottom.also fish away from shore...the big fish swim in the middle of the lake..where the water is deep!

When your cast your line out, keep the pole up and keep reeling. Once you stop, you will get stuck. Also you can use a bubble.Wal-mart etc. sells "weedless spoons". They are about 5 bucks and they are amazing! The fish go nuts for the shiny spoons and no weeds! Happy Fishing!

Any good angler has to cast his lure where the fish are holding. You will also have to loose several lures while fishing, if you are putting you lure where the fish are. Not all big fish swim in the middle of the lake, as one person said. At certain times, good sized bass are in the shallows, right close to weeds, and any form of cover they can find. I suggest you buy more weedless lures. You can make a plastic worm weedless, by rigging it Texas style. But, when you hook a fish in weeds, you must have heavy line, because once you set that hook, the fish goes straight into the weeds. Either you have to reel very fast after the hook set, or drag them out of the weeds, with 20 pounds of weeds attached to the fish, and line. Or, look for the edge of the weed beds. Bass will hold on the edges, and ambush any prey that swims by. That would be a good time to use the spinnerbait. Some examples of weedless lures are topwater frogs like the Scum Frog, a weedless spoon, spinnerbaits are mostly weedless, jigs are good for weed fishing, soft plastic worms, and you can make crankbaits weedless by removeing the treble hooks, and replacing them with single hooks, facing towards the back of the lure. A Few Lures For Heavy Cover: When fishing weeds or lily pads, for several generations a favorite of anglers has been the Johnson Siver Minnow, with a pork frog added to it. A plastic spoon such as Heddon's Moss Boss will also take fish, and comes through moss better than other lures. However, the metal weedless spoons offer the best trade-off between castability and performance. Perhaps the most overlooked, and one that is seldom thought of is a pork frog. Fished alone on a weedless hook. a large pork frog is hard to beat in thick weeds or moss. Once you've got a bass hooked in thick cover, you've got to get him out. Keep your rod high and keep the fish coming. Try to get his head out of the water when you set the hook, and then keep it out, skating the bass over the top of the cover. If the fish is allowed to dive into the entanglements, it could be all over. Be wary of the bass's movements, and snub its attempts to head for the bottom. Heavy cover fishing is a bit different than fishing open water, and so are the rewards. A huge sow bass busting a hole in the weeds to engulf your bait is one sight you'll never forget. Have fun and tight lines.More Questions & Answers...
