We live on a lake. It has a reputation for many drownings and accidents, and people are constantly missing...?
This is a major recreational area. The firetrucks, ambulances, and helicopters are always (once or twice a week) going past with their lights on. Then, on the news they tell about the drowning. My question is...Are ALL lake areas like this? I don't remember ever having seen so much emergency traffic around other lakes. Is this one cursed?

And are these occurrences near you? If they are, maybe it be best to stay inside. But if they aren't and you feel OK about going in the water, go ahead. If you want to know more, I would recommend going to some neighbors and others that have lived there for some time, and inquire about the occurrences.

It also depends on the size of the community you live in and if there's nothing else news worthy to report.I use to work with the fire department in the lake shore community I lived in but we lived about an hour outside of a major city. Accidents and drownings were rarely ever reported because there was usually something else of more importance to report in the news that day.
