Are most fishing tournaments in overfished areas or less fished areas?
I know they usually fish HUGE lakes which means its hard to overfish them everywhere since I believe some fish pick favorite spots. All I know is that I catch monstorous bass in lakes/reservoirs where no one fishes and am wondering what conditions most bass tournaments are held in? thanks

Conditions vary most tournaments are set by a predetermined date and you have to fish weather its rain snow or wind. I do think lightning will stop a tournament but that is about it. Other conditions and locations of the tournaments are planned in areas at prime times for bass , such as spawning times etc. That way fisherman stand a chance at catching the largest bass they can
Its usually crowded fishing in places that is why some anglers go long distances and they always have spectators filming and watching them.
Some bass anglers have favorite spots and find them during pre fishing for the tournament. However these spots might be good one day and not the next due to weather or other conditions. That is where the top bass fisherman shine through . To be sucessful you need to be versatile in your lures and have knowledge of where bass go during different conditions.
Its all about what you know and where you go in tournaments and a bit of luck helps.
Most fishing tournaments around here are stocked with fish that have been tagged for the event.
most bass tornies are held in really well fished lakes. Most are larger and have many different types of cover and topography. This helps to round the fishing tactics. Also accesibility is also considered.
We are having trouble catching mackerel. Any tips?
They have to be held in large easy accessible lakes. I'm sure they would love to fish lakes with little fishing pressure, but you are talking hundreds of boats on the water at one time and thousands of people in attendance, so they have to fish areas with the amenities to provide for all the people.More Questions & Answers...
