An air rifle wouldn't go more than a few hundred feet.A .22LR will go 1 1/2 miles.
A pistol cartridge, around 3 1/2 miles.
A rifle cartridge, over 5 or 6 miles.
A .50BMG will go over 8 miles.
A shotgun with a sport load (2 3/4 or 3 dram eq., 7 1/2 or 8 or 9 shot, etc.) will drop under 900 feet.
A heavy magnum shotgun load (3 1/2 dram, +, 6, 4, 2, shot etc.) will go up to 2000 feet or so.
It all depends on the calibre of the gun you are shooting
