There are different types of parachuting, please names and specify each?
eg paragliding, etc
Answers:
Does anyone know any good gun safety courses?
Static Line: jumping out (usually low altitude [500-2000ft)] - parachute opens 'automatically' by means of an attachment to the plane.Freefall: parachute opened (usually) manually by jumper after a delay - can also be opened by automatic activation device (AAD) but usually only as a back up)
Tandem: jumping while attached to a more experienced jumper - useful for novice jumps or for getting non-jumpers into a DZ (military specialists etc)
AFF - Accelerated freefall - a training method where the student jumps with instructors aiding their body position (the accelerated refers to the speed of training progression NOT freefall speed)
Canopy relative work: making formations with parachutes
There are sub-disciplines like free-flying, relative work etc but these are the freefall aspects not the parachuting aspects.
There are also types of 'parachuting' such as paragliding or parapente, fan-assisted etc but I think they should be considered gliding rather than parachuting.
Hope that's enough but if you need more drop me a note
