if your state has gun shows? that is the best place to buy used guns. check out walmart and pawn shops too. I'am pretty sure you could get a new 10/22 for about $140. a new remington 12 gauge 870 pump isn't that bad of a price either.i just got back from walmart and remington 870 is about $300. that is a good price.
Pawn shops. The price listed on the tag is always REAL high.but don't let that scare you.
Take a pen and pad with you. Look at all the .22s and shotguns they have and write down all the info on the gun, etc. Then go home and look on gunbroker.com or auctionarms.com and see what they model is selling for on the market. Then go back to the pawn and offer them that much, no more. If the man sees you "doing your homework" and that you are looking to buy at several places, he will sell it for a fair price.
If the firearm is real dirty or damaged, don't even consider it. It relly really helps to have someone along that knows guns well to inspect them.

Stay away from pawn shops, unless they are selling you a new gun. You can purchase a new mossberg 500 for less than $200.00 and you wont have any problems. expect trouble with used shotgun especially pump or semi auto guns.Any good crabbing piers in the highlands area of NJ? Is now the time to go?

Cheapest 12 gaugue I've seen is the Mossberg Maverick. They are around $150 at Wal mart. As for .22's, you can sometimes find them for around $100, at Wal mart. I'm not sure what brand, though, because Wal Mart where I live quit carrying guns.Can you give me tips of shooting a co2 gun better and more accurate?
I am guessing you ain't deer hunting. I am thinking squirrel or rabbit with the two choices of guns here.I would go with the Remmington 572 22 cal rifle if it is still made in that model. If it isn't, go with a pump 22 from Remmington. Someone bought me a Marlin once and it blows.
I would go with an 870 Remmington shotgun if I was buying a shotgun.

Check out the local pawn shops but be careful not to get a piece of junk. A better choice would be to go to a gun shop that handles used guns. You may pay more for it but you have a much better chance of getting a safe reliable gun. If you want something new, go see what your local Wal-Mart has on hand.walmart has great prices on guns. You can buy a nice semi automatic .22 mossberg for 92.00. It is actually a nice little gun.
