I'm considering buying a Remington 710 rifle in .243 . Anyone have any good/bad experiences with one?
I plan to use it as a varmint rifle, but it may end up as a first hunting rifle for my niece. Also, does anyone know if the trigger can be adjusted the same way the trigger on a Remington 700 can be?

I'd highly recommend the 700, not the 710. Out of all the remington rifles that have to come behindthe counter at work, it's usually something chambered in the 710 rifle.Any chamberings in the 700 series rifles are much more reliable.Does anyone know of good fishing spots in Melbourne Australia ?

Can't really tell if that's the same fire control group as the 700. That model can be adjusted (that it to a 'smith, though...don't try it yourself!). In that caliber, it's make a decent deer gun (I took more deer with the 700 in .243 than anything else).

when did they start offering the 710 in .243? i have the 2006 remington product brochure in front of me and all i see is the 710 being offered in .270, 30-06, 7mm mag and the .300 win. mag.Where are there good crawfishing spots in sacramento?
It's an okay rifle with an okay piece of glass on top. If you're serious about using the rifle, forget the 710 and get a 700 and a good scope. If it's a rifle you plan on sighting in and then taking one or two 200-yard shots per year, then it's fine.I don't think the 710's trigger group is interchangeable with the 700's trigger group. I know that's not quite what you asked, but even if you don't want to adjust your 700's trigger you can find at least a half-dozen drop-in replacements that WILL allow you to adjust it. Just not sure with the 710.

DO NOT BUY A 710! Stick with the classic 700. The 710 is a "Mart Brothers" and sporting goods store offering and I have NEVER seen one in a bonafide gun shop. That tells you something along with the link I have supplied. BIG GREEN needs to clean up, get rid of russian and chinese suppliers, and go back to the way they used to be (which we know will not happen).More Questions & Answers...
