How do YOU fish a jig? What type of retrieve do you use?
I have a few presentations that I find very productive, but want to know some others.

Is there a chatroom for fishing?
Depends on what kind of jig...Bass Jig: I'll usually just cast into thick cover and jig it along the bottom. Soemtimes I'll put some attractant on it since I'm going to be up close and personal because I'll probably be flipping it. That usually works pretty well. Other times, I'll get a lighter jig, put on a trailer, and swim it. That will work pretty well when the fish are suspended.
Crappie Jig: Most of the time I just swim these since crappie in our area are almost always suspended on underwater structure. However, when I'm fishing minnows w/ a bobber, and I've determined the depth at which the fish are suspended - run out of minnnows - I'll tie on a crappie jig to the bobber and swim it that way. By doing that, the jig is at the same depth that the fish are.
Good Luck.
Another technique you might want to try is pitchin jigs into weed pockets. Use a heavy round or football jig head and drop it into a weed pocket. Good trailers that work for me are 3-4" Berkeley Power Grubs and Yum Gonzo Grubs. Toss the jig into the pocket and twitch it wildly. Then, let the jig settle onto the bottom and shake your rod tip back and forth. Then, twitch it a couple of more times and bring the jig up to the surface, and let it drop to the bottom again. When you feel a tap, set the hook, and reel in your fish.
What is the wildest outdoor activity you have participated in?
you cant fish a jig, a jig is a target bait made to be in the cover. make a pitch or flip in a bush and the jig will do the rest.Whats the biggest fish u u ever caught?
jigs are the most versatile lure there is.I don't know if you are strictly a largemouth fisherman or not, but jigs are great for nearly everything . They can imitate crawfish {which I believe is what the largemouths think it is in typical flippin} small baitfish , squid and shrimp, I use them mostly in saltwater for tarpon, snook striped bass, snappers groupers weakfish and more and in freshwater I've caught everything from bluegills to 30lb carp on them. when using a jig just try to remember what it is supposed to be for the fish you are seeking, and give it the movement to imitate that. For example if you are going for snook and there are a lot of pilchards around and you are trying to imitate a pilchard, you wont be using it like you would if you were pitching to bucketmouths you would be quicker off the bottom like a pilchard would act. I hope this helpsMore Questions & Answers...
