How do you use the bushnell boresighter?
Trying to sight in a scope and i do not know how high to place the bushnell boresighter at the end of the barrel.

There is suppose to be rods that attach to the bore sight (different rods for different calibers) then slide into the end of the barrel.Any good fishing spots within a 10 mile radius of Plymouth, UK?
Ok the guy above me explained the boresighter with the rods but did you (like me) get the Bushnell boresighter that is magnetic? If so put your gun in a gun vise and put the boresighter on the end of the barrel (after you've unloaded and made the thing safe) now from in front of the gun (see why you have to unload it) look at the boresighter and beyond it. the outside edges should be about even with the outside edges of your scope if they look good now go around and look at the outside edges of your scope in relation to the boresighter. Once they are even then you can proceed with the sighting in. But you'll find that the thing will slide down if you bump the gun too much so you have to constantly check and re check to make sure the boresighter is still even with the scope. I took a silver sharpie and marked on the side of the boresighter the bottom and top of my barrel once it was aligned with the scope. It'll rub off later but it helps a lot while your using it. Also if your scope is really big then get the boresighter centered in the circle of your scopes front lense just look all around the boresighter making sure that you can see equal amounts of the front lense. P.S even boresighted your probably gonna want to take quite a few boxes of ammo with you to the range. oh and another tip put scotch tap on the magnet of your boresighter so that moving it up or down won't ruin your blueing on the end of you gunMore Questions & Answers...
