There are alot of ways to practice fishing... especially casting. When I started teaching my kids... we had five, five gallon buckets in the backyard. different angles... different distances. A 3/8 once river wiegh was attatched and of they go .. taking turns at casting. They started with thier thumb on the lever of a close faced reel with the rod at the 1 oclock position.then they bring the tipof the rod back over thier shoulder to the 10 or 11 oclock position... work the rod back forward releasing the thumb lever and stopping the rod at about the 2 oclock position. spincasters and bait casters are different of course.Are rabbit in distress calls "realy" good for hunting coyotes?

There is no universal answer. The best way to learn is to practise casting at something in the yard with a 1/2 ounce wait tied to the line. Everyone uses a different position and release point.
