You can get some amazing accuracy with some of the surplus ammo. It is not junk and some of it is better than new commercial ammo.
Be sure to clean your tube and receiver right after shooting with windex, dry and then oil everything. Corrosive ammo is nothing to be afraid of!

Whatever. I buy by the 880 packs from Southerrn Ohio Gun. Grab a few hundred rounds from the same lot. Go punch holes in paper for a few days and you'll get er dialed into repspectible antler on the wall and venison on the grill accuracey. If you're looking for MOA type stuff. Accuracy wise handloads or commercial ammo will obviously beat surplus all to hell, however if you want cheap I've heard Russian surplus was good.What part of the deer makes the most tender steaks?
be very careful about what surplus ammo you buy. A lot of foreign surplus ammo can be corrosive in nature,and they dont often mention that. Nagants are a lot of fun arent they, I got and M44 and love to BLAST at the range.I disagree with notion of corrosive ammo being perfectly safe, for the extra effort you have to go through EVERY time you shoot it you can find plenty of ammo that is comprable in price.
Any gun is an investment,and the value of your gun will go down if corrosive ammo has been fired through it, the stuff is cheap for a reason.
