I need suggestions on how to hang a tire swing from a tree in my yard. I'm a single mom feeling dumb here lol
I don't want to harm the tree so which is better a rope or chain? I'm really at loss on where to begin, to make it properly. I want this to be a fun mother and son project.

rope is better, for both the tree and your son. Use a sturdy rope that will last through weather. Tie something heavy that can be thrown to one end of the rope and toss it over the branch that you want to use. Once you've got it over the branch tie it around the tire. Enjoy.I haven't made one before or anything, but all of the ones I have seen were with rope... Just make sure the tree is big and strong.. and the branch if strong as well.. Good luck. :)
Just wanted to add that you shouldn't put it too far out on the branch. Keep the rope as close to the trunk as you can but still give enough room to swing without hitting the base of the tree. Good luck! :D

Rope, but there is a special knot to use - try this link:I have only seen ropes used. I would suggest that you find a tire that does not collect water for mosquitos nest there. It is also difficult to swing on them without getting wet (from experience) if it is made from a standard tire.
