Why don't gun manufacturers stop selling guns to California's police departments that citizens can't buy?

California has some of the most restrictive gun laws in America, but Barrett is fighting back. Once California banned the .50 bmg cartridge, Barrett decided to stop selling .50 bmg rifles not only to citizens, but also police departments. Barrett said that they can't sell rifles to criminals, and California state government was in breach of the 2nd amendment and 14th amendments. If each manufacturer did this perhaps it would put pressure on the California government to stop its campaign to make it so only the rich can defend themselves.

Your comment on England has rampant gun problems is totally wrong in fact if you count all murders by guns the USA has more murders than all other countries in the world combined.

3600-4000 per year.

Almost every home in Canada has rifle
136 murders per year.

I have the opprotunity to buy a remington model 70 .270 left handed rifle. just wondering what you guys think

STFU you crazy liberal. You're a waste of sperm and eggs, and I'm personally going to find your mom and slap her for not having the good sense to get an abortion.

What is the biggest deer you have ever killed?

Don't know how you came to the conclusion that only the rich can defend themselves. Besides, you'd need to be rich to own a Barrett. At $5/round, that's a lot for ammo, not to mention the rifle.

There are legit reasons why law enforcement would need a weapon that the general public might not need. Generally speaking though, neither party "needs" a .50 cal. It's a hobby/recreational gun unless you're a military sniper reaching out a mile to hit a target.

Local and state law enforcement have no need for anything this powerful. In fact, they'd be putting civilians at risk if they tried to use something like this. SWAT snipers with .30 cals can do just fine in almost all law enforcement situations.

For self defence, this weapon would be worthless. A good 9 or 10 mm is much better. A lot cheaper to train on, use and maintain.

WHAT AREAS IS FISHING TAKiNG PLACE?

Barrett gained my respect when they refused to sell to Ca. law agencys. California is agreeably the most anti 2nd ammendment state of the 50. I agree also more manufacturers of KKKalifornia banned firearms should stop selling there.Profit seems to be the motivation with these other makers, instead of preservation of rights. With the lift of the assault weapons ban, California is even farther behind than they once were, for a supposedly progressive state they sure are closed minded about our Bill of Rights.(Except when it benefits the perversion industry that fuels a percentage of California's economy) The sooner the fault line cracks and slides the left coast into the Pacific the better off the nation will be.
There will of course be people who say "No one needs a 50 bmg rifle, no one needs a semi auto firearm" these same people will be the 1st in line to try and buy a firearm if the spam ever hits the fan, but by then it will be too late. Rosie (gag) Odonnel is as anti firearm as they get, yet her own personal security is armed, liberalism is a mental disorder, there is no logic in the hypocrisy of the anti gun types. What the vast majority of the radical anti gunners fail to see is, the majority of violent crimes commited with a firearm are done by criminals, with ILLEGAL firearms, the percentage of legally owned firearms being used in violent crimes is miniscule by comparison. If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. California is doing a grave disservice to the country with their anti 2nd ammendment stance.

Does anybody know where i can find a thigh holster to a smith & wesson M&P 9mm?

That's a good point Barrett made. I didn't realize they did that. I don't think that I would ever own a .50 because I don't need one but I also don't need a monsterous Ford Expedition either so I don't have one of them. I don't have a 3,000 sq. ft. home because I don't need one. If I wanted a highpower of venerable size it would prob. be a .338 Lapua Mag or something close to it. I count my blessings I do not live in CA because that Diane Feinstein sure left her mark on that state!

I have a Stevens model 311 12 gauge double barrel shot gun made by Savage arms corp. How old is it?

Because if the manufacturers stop selling to the police depts also they would go out of business since gun laws are getting more strict especially in California. As far as that state goes there wouldn't be anyone to sell to at all if they didn't sell to law enforcement.

Barrett Firearms Mfg., Inc. has chambered the Model 99 .50 caliber rifle for the new .416 Barrett round. The .416 shoots flatter, faster and hits harder than anything available. Barrett expects to chamber its other .50 caliber models for the .416 by the end of 2006. One of the advertising taglines is "California:here we come."
As for a direct answer to the question..here's a letter from Ronnie Barrett to LAPD Chief William J. Bratton..
http://www.barrettrifles.com/news/americ...

As for other manufacturers having the balls Ronnie Barrett did...
I wouldn't hold your breath. Ronnie Barrett started his company in 1983. He built it and owns it. He doesn't answer to a board..or pander to a bunch of handlers telling him what to say and when to say it. He's a stand up guy that speaks and does his mind.

Although there is probably some of the same sentiment wafting through the halls at Ruger, S&W, Taurus, Wesson, Colt, et al...it's not really up to one guy to slam his hand down on the boardroom table and make the call. It's decisions by committee. If you think back through history you find there have been some good, solid and thoughtful decisions made by committee..but not many historical ones. Barrett telling Bratton to politely go **ck himself was, and will continue to forever be, a nice little slice of history.
