All of the answers prior to mine are possibly right can you provide any more info i.e. did it make a drumming sound ,does the edge of the caudal fin (tail) have a blue tint as does a small red fish the size you described?longnose gar in there juvenile state which would be the size you described could possibly have only one spot, but the long nose should have been a give away. I think you caught a red drum though. P.S.Spottail is strictly saltwater fish they require very high salinity to for comfort..P.S.S.We also have a species of bream in the Apalachicola and choctawahachee river systems called painted bream which have many different colors as well as patterns. Most spots are dark red almost maroon, but I have seen them w/ black spots. Is the bull in bullfighting colourblind or what?
Yes. Florida Spot Tail.Im looking for the NY Dogs of War paintball team website.?
black spotted liger fish.Allrigth so would you get the vforce grill or the empire e-vent if you were me i cant decide?
Well that isn't much to go on..red fish have that spot on their tails. just before the tail begins and they also have a red tint. I believe they are from the drum family. Great fun to catch.
Any fixed bungee jumps in the UK?
It could be a red drum, also referred to as a redfish. Because there's sooooo many inlets and estuaries in florida, you could have been in "brackish" water. This is a mix between fresh and saltwater. What you've caught sounds a lot like a redfish. It could have just wandered inland and you were lucky enough to have caught it. If you're in a landlocked - pure freshwater body of water, it's still not impossible to have hooked up to a redfish. Here in NC, a buddy of mine caught a flounder in a landlocked lake that was freshwater. He was dropshotting for largemouth and hooked into a 20" flounder. Sometimes people catch them, leave them in a livewell and forget they're in there, and then take them to a local lake and release them not remembering that they're saltwater fish.
Hope that helps
