What should I look for in a waterfowl gun?
I'm new to waterfowling and shot my first goose a few days ago. I used a borrowed gun and I need one for myself.

look for 3and a half inch magnum in a matte or camo finish. if your budget is low, go with a remington 870 super magnum, its super reliable, easy to clean. if your budget is higher go for a berretta 3.5 extrema. its the best autoloader made, hands down. its super reliable, while having really soft recoil. i own both of these guns. i bought th rem first, then when i started waterfowl hunting alot, i bought the beretta.Find Browning Stainless Stalker for less than $750?

A 31/2 inch chamber is a must,Camouflage or a black matt finish,Weight try to get a light gun they get heavy if you have to do any walking.I like the Mossberg they have a good selection to choose from.12 Gage,but if you goose hunt you may want a 10 Gage,but the ammo for the 10 Gage is expensiveHard to go wrong with a Remington 870 wingmaster. It is a pump shot gun. Go with 12 GA , you can hunt any bird with it. The barrel on the 870 is interchangeable. You can get longer or shorter barrels if needed, but 30 inches should be a good all around choice. Choke tubes are a must. They will allow you to open or close the spread of shot, depending on what you're hunting.
My own 870 is now 30 years old. I've worn out the wood stock and replaced it with a fiberglass one. I use my 30 inch barrel for hunting ducks and my 20 inch barrel for slugs and buck shot when hunting deer.

depends on your budget. look at a Stoeger m2000 autoloader. ( 3 inch ) Look at Mossberg 835 pump look at Remington 870 super magnum Finally look at Nova pump by Benelli. all of these are 400 dollar guns and will waterfowl nicely. If you get serious and want to spend the cash go to a Browning Gold Hunter ( 900 bucks ) or a Benelli Super Black Eagle II about 1400 bucks.More Questions & Answers...
