Jogging on hard ground is also better than, say, jogging on a treadmill. On a treadmill, your movements are limited (no side-to-side or turning motions), and thus will stress your joints in a more particular way, causing aches and eventually arthritis.
Jogging on grass is good, and is recommended for people recovering from certain orthopedic operations or leg/foot related accidents. However, as a runner myself, it frustrates me when I see people running on grass that isn't meant for heavy trafic, since they will eventually wear a path into the grass, detracting from its natural beauty.
