Serious hikers only I'm thru hiking the AT in 2008 , If I began the PCT WA/BC 9-08 wud I make yosemite by xmas
The logic of the question is obvious: Since I'm already in hiking shape and own everthing I need it , it seems to be a matter of logistics and the desire to spend another 5 months on trail . I know that PCT re-supply points are further apart than they are on the AT but how much further ?

the PCT goes through many different "zones," from the edge of the Colorado desert to sub-alpine (13,000 feet). if you started southbound in September, the ONLY way you might have a shot at getting to Yosemite is if the west has another miserable, awful, dry winter. of course, then the problem is that there will be no water sources for days. More likely, you will get snowed out before the end of October. I do not know the northern half of the PCT very well (i live in CA and am familiar with it from Yosemite south), but you'll go through quite a few mtn ranges that typically get socked in with snow every winter. i don't think that what you are proposing is feasible - in the sort of snowpack you're likely to encounter, you won't be able to make the sort of big miles required for reasonable time spans between resupplies.
you definitely want to ask this question somewhere else, like trailforums.com or on the PCT-L mailing list. the PCT-L is the best, best, best source for getting PCT info. there will be somebody there who can advise you on possible sections that might be good to do in the fall. good luck on your AT hike and i hope you can work out something to do right afterwards. maybe consider the AZT or the GET, especially if AZ and NM get good, solid monsoon seasons.
Which ammo revisited .22mag or .17?
The AT extends into Canada if you want to keep on going."To all who delight in hiking the Appalachians, to those who take joy in trekking the many and varied trails there, believe me (for it is true) your Appalachian experience will remain forever incomplete - until you’ve ventured among those spectacular mountains to the north, along the Sentier International des Appalaches/The International Appalachian Trail."
