I have a Winchester model 94, 30-30. The serial number starts with "L" does anyone know what that means?

What does the "XT" in Switchback XT stand for?

That "L" is actually a 1. Some people say it was a sign that the number die was worn to low, others that Winchester did it on purpose for some unknown inventory reason. But all agree it is referred to as a 1.
