Best fishing near Portland Oregon?
A couple of friends of mine want to go fishing for the day, what's the best place to rent a boat and fish near Portland Oregon?

I would definitly recommend Hagg Lake, which is located in Gaston, OR. Right outside of Forest Grove. About 40 minutes from Portland. It's beautiful! Half of the lake is considered a "no wake zone" which is real nice. Here is a website, http://www.co.washington.or.us/deptmts/s...I think there daily fee is around 6 bucks, and 50 to rent a boat for all day. Last I heard they held the state record for smallmouth bass. It is too early for bass fishing, but there is great trout fishing there.

Buy a used canoe! You can put a 15 footer on any hatch-back, get to that lake west of Forest Grove, or the ones on the Clack (you might rent them there) any time of year. In the late spring head up to Timothy, Trillium and Lost Lakes, and in a year or two we may all be lucky enough not to read about you in the Oregonian when you take it down the Sandy in the Middle of winter.More Questions & Answers...
