Hunting clubs: do you have any experience with?
first off hello to all of my hunting brothers and sisters i hope the off season is treating you well!! as for me and my small hunting club we have ran into a dilemma. you see we have a small piece of property leased here in southeast georgia from plum creek timber co. this is my first experience with leasing from a corporation so i thought it would offer some benefits vs. leasing from a private land holder. "I WAS WRONG". you see they just recently told us that not only were they going to increase our lease by 20% ,but they also were going to institute extra charges of 200$ just to have a camp site and 200$ per camper. this amounts to a 50% increase compared to last year. needless to say we are probably going to have to let the land go because it just is too cost prohibitive for our small club. have any of you ever dealt with this obviously rapacious company before and what was the outcome?? i am afraid that if this trend continues we will see an end to hunting for working people

This seems to be a general trend. Different state, different timber company, same story (but much worse than yours: my ex-club members were OK when dues went from $2500 to $4500 a year over a ten-year period, but then we had to buy some of the land or leave, and I couldn't pull the extra $300,000 out of my pocket. The old southern club tradition is dying, and we'll just have to adapt.I heard about a world war II reenactment in ohio anyone know anything about like any?
NoIt's not suprising. You might have some legal rights if you have a signed lease for a certain number of years.
