At least 15 years. I have a Diamondback presently. Pretty cheap mountain bike, nothing great, but it does a great job navigating all those single track trails in the California coastal mountains. My favorite ride is through the Forest of Nisene Marks. It's a real grunt, an all day ride up to the top of the mountains above Capitola, but then you have an 11 mile downhill coast through redwood forest and you end up right where you parked your car.
