Not having much luck.?
If you want the biger fish do you use the big bait? Or will a nice worm do the job?
Answers:
to answer ur question, yes bigger baits do catch bigger fish.
i personnaly try to catch big river catfish, and using a little worm on a 1/0 hook will not do the job.we catch our bigger fish on palm size bluegill or bigger.also shad that are 6" long or longer work really well.i have never caught a catfish over 20lbs on a worm.
my setup for big catfish:7' heavy action deep sea rod, penn 209 levelwind reel,50lb test line as a minimum.weight usually differs due to current in the river, but usually no smaller than 2oz.hooks are 6/0-8/0 either circle or octopus.u allmost have to think like the fish does.if u are a 40lb flathead,do u want a little bitty worm to eat or do u want a 6" bluegill or shad?
as far as bass go u will catch decent bass on smaller eqipment.i have caught some 3-7 pounders on light to medium action gear.but my favorite technique to catching bigger bass is pitching or flipping a tube or jig into cover,or carolina rig a tube over main lake points and dropoffs.
Big Baits Catch Big Fish
Think big. Think big because that old piscatorial adage to the effect that big baits catch big fish can be taken literally. Sure big baits also catch small fish, and small baits also catch the occasional big fish, but why take chances? It’s only natural that a big fish is going to be more interested in a big bait.

A nice worm or even part of a worm will do the trick, you just have to be patient and wait for the big one to come, it may take a few small ones to get to a big one but it will happen.
Who score the first goal for usa in 1994 competition?
it's not about the size of the bait, it's about whether the bait is what the fish wants to eat. i think live bait is the best for most circumstances anyway. bigger fish tend to love eating smaller fish, so ditch the worm and cram a fingerling on your hook and see how far that gets you.How long does a pheasant live for.?
i use both minnows and worms.they both are great bait,it just depends on what part of the day you go and if the fish are biting. Are you a hunter or fisherman?
You most certainly don't have to use big bait. I love ultra light fishing, and catch large fish all the time on small hooks and baits. If you're using worms, you need to use gang hooks, they are the best way to present live worms....http://www.jrwfishing.com/gang_hooks.asp...Whats a good price for a 96 FS Beretta?
I agree that Big baits catch Big fish with some Exceptions. In the North we have seasons that affect the forage base.So large bait fish are sometimes hard for the fish to find naturally. The young of the year Bait Fish are just that- Young. In that case matching the Hatch is your best bet.I've had times when a single Night crawler on a small hook rigged naturally out fished a gob of worm on Cats and other fish early in the year.Later as the summer wears on the Larger the better.GOOD LUCK and KEEP FISHING!!!!How do I fish for compliments?
Alot of times bigger baits catch bigger fish but can be nibbled off by smaller fish! You will find it is not the size of the bait but place, presentation and conditions you fish aide you in catching big fish!Big fish seek out optimal living conditions and will expend only enough energy needed for there feed most of the times.Present your small bait in the correct spot and any big fish will if in the feed mode will probably eat it!Try bass fishing beds see the small creatures the bass chase from thier beds. They may not be on the feed but protecting a bed if the lil guy keeps up he can become a meal or if lucky just spit out away from the bed.
When the time is right to fish a large bait fish one but use a small bait and catch more fish!
