Below where the river comes in , Fish the river channel where it runs in the lake. I would say late night is the best when there is less boat traffic and its quiet.

A secret to the NC lakes for cats is to fish at night in the summer were there is boat traffic during the day. In the day the boats run through schools of shad, they kill shad .At night when it gets quiet and the boats leave the cats feed in these areas.

The best bait is shad but they usually have to be cast netted . Cut bluegill are great as well as cut shiners. Chicken livers also work there, and its costly but fresh shrimp is a good bait
