30 06 rifle: winchester vs remington?
I would recommend going to Dick's sporting goods to find something for under $100. You are pretty much limited to a single shot shotgun or a 22 rifle. I bought a mossberg 702 plinkster for $79 from Dick's in December. It is a semi-automatic 22 with a 10 shot clip. So far it has been a blast to shoot and it is very accurate. It would be a fun squirrel gun.How to wear a Paddle holster to keep it close to body?

go to K-MARTS and get the blue light special! or wal-marts! their prices are better! you had better have a permit for that gun, though!walmart or dicks---u can buy a low grade shot gun for 70$
Purchasing a hunting cabin in the US.?
a red rider with a mounted scopeI would like you to tell me what gun wal-mart sells for 70 bucks! The cheapest gun you can probably buy new that won't blow up in your face is a NEF or H&R brand single shot. For just over $100 or a little less than $100 for a used one. I wouldn't buy a new gun than cost less than $100, or $200 for that matter.
you might want to try at Big 5 sporting goods. They have WWII riffels at good prices
Anyone know of good but mellow backpacking areas in Northern California this time of year?
There is no such thing!ANY quality firearm on todays' market, new or used, will be priced at a minimum of $200-$300.
The only rifles available for sale in your asking range are third rate military-surplus junk sold by the big volume "sporting goods" stores like "Big 5", whose employees' lack of knowledge of REAL firearms is surpassed only by the extreme lack of interest in customer care by the corporations themselves!
Bottom line, one gets what one pays for; pay junk prices, one gets JUNK. Best save your hard-earned coin and buy a GOOD quality weapon, instead of somebody's commie trash that's not even a good boat anchor!

6 mm airsoft rifles at the flea market, but there not lethalNeed Help Picking a Gun Caliber...?
My brother owns a New England Firearms .410 single-shot shotgun and has killed more rabbits with it than any other gun he owns. You can buy them new for ~$80. It also has interchangeable barrels that you can buy so that you can put a 12 gauge barrel in place of the .410 in just a couple of minutes. That is, you can have one gun that fires several calibers by simply switching barrels.Drawbacks: the 12 gauge barrel has a little bit of kick to it when shooting heavier loads; (I fired a 3" slug out of it once; yeah, just once). And you have only one shot; you have to make it count.
I'd try and save a little more..but you might be able to pick up a SKS for that price.
Do you ever go camping by yourself?
I second the Mosin Nagant. Get a 91/30 and then a M44 later.I suppose one man's junk is anothers treasure...Yeah, these rifle are junk Mr. USMC..just ask the 11,000,000 Wermacht soldiers that were killed by them!
Has anyone got a turkey yet this year and how big?
You can get great deals at gun shows...Mossberg 500s & even some older Remington 870s are around $100. If you want a new gun, Stoeger and H&R make great single shot guns. I have a H&R single 20 G and it's a great little gun..it takes 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. I have used it pheasant hunting several times. If you save up a bit, however, H&R also has the Excel Auto 5. I bought mine (it's a 12 G, takes 2 3/4 and 3" and I have put rifled slugs through it with no problem) brand new for $275.What is the name of the gun that fires a net? where can i get one?
A gun store/pawn shop will usually have old Mausers, British SMLEs, and Russian Mosin Nagant rifles and used single shot shotguns on hand. Don't pass by "sporter" versions with non military short stocks. Make sure to check the barrels for wear, pits, bulges, and brightness. Most old military rifles can be cleaned up to look pretty good with a little time and effort.Mosin Nagant

Used AK-47
Basically Russian rifles are cheap but are good quality.
Shortest legal shot gun length and barrel length?
for 100.00 buck you better go used. The Mosin-Nagant is a great deer hunter, so is the SKS but it may be a little more than 100.00. one of the surpluss Mausers are also a great choice in 7 or 8 MM. a chinese surplus in 7mm is good but stay away from the 8mm. If you really want cheap, go for the Italian Carcano, it's one step abouve "Better than nothing" but not by much.8x57 Mauser. No matter how many Germans the Russians killed in WWII, the Germans killed a ton more Russians due to training and quality firearms.
The Russian crap may cost less, but you are buying a rifle whose creators weren't even smart enough to use a rimless case (Mosin). In the case of a SKS of AK clone, you are looking at hopeless inaccuracy and marginal power for deer. The 8x57 is significantly more powerful than either the 7.62x54r (out of a Mosin) and a huge deal more powerful than a 7.62x39 (out of a SKS or AK. However, a commie boat anchor in good shape is much better than an original German K98 that's had a 30-06 through it's receiver. That is, make sure that you buy a rifle in good operating shape.
What is a good buffalo bait I have a spot loaded with them but cant get a bite?
Get a Mosin Nagant. 91, 91/10, or 91/30. Go for the long barreled ones and then slice the barrel down to 23-24". Gives you a good heavy barrel and superb accuracy. Stick it into an ATI Monte Carlo stock and have fun. Nothing in North America it can't hit and kill.As to the "expert" above.well, I guess his own words say it all.
"The 8x57 is significantly more powerful than either the 7.62x54r (out of a Mosin) "
ROFLMAO!!!
