There are many books which list trips. Check out a 4wd shop to see some examples. Another option is to find a group to go out with and find new places. There are many groups, often based on the type of vehicle that you have.I know that the Rubicon is up north somewhere, but I don't know exactly where and it is not for novices alone.

It is funny that some people complain about the wasted fuel, but I suspect if we were to look at what they do we would find a lot of waste. Look at Al Gore and his flights around the country.

If you wanna go to NorCal you have to be ready for these hippies crying about the environment...ozone, gasoline, anti-war and all. Just bring a big-*** super soaker so you can hose them off of the redwoods. Ever heard of Cow Mountain up in Ukiah? 30,000 acres of recreational land to burn your gas and hunt the animals so you can wear them. Now don't keep running into those trees cuz all the tree-sitters will end up dropping on top of your truck and the impact will shake the ticks off their hair. And then there's Mendocino Nat'l Forest. This one is huge, it occupies three counties and it's easy to get lost on your first trip there.
