The Rose is the symbol of England. There was a War called the War of the Roses between Lancashire and somewhere else. I cant remember now. It was also called the Tudor Rose which I would imagine has come from Henrry VIII who was a Tudor King and he certainly wasnt gay. Each country has its own symbols eg. The daffodil or the leek for Wales.the thistle for Scotland and so the Rose for England. Most countries also have a bird to represent their country as America has the eagle.
