How much can i improve by next year?

Just keep running. Don't worry that you aren't the fastest. There will always be somebody out there who's faster than you are. If you love the sport, remember that you are doing it for yourself and no one else. Just have fun with it. Follow your coach's instructions as if they are the words of God. Don't slack off at practice. And keep running, because it is the most freeing sport of them all.

Is it feasible to run a sub six minute mile at fifty without killing myself?

You have just started so you have a lot to learn. It will take time to find out where you are best suited to run. Some people take years to find their event. You have to train to become stronger. Think about what you need to do in training to be better and stay with it. Track is a hard sport and takes lots of work, but it is very rewarding, and you can run for your lifetime. No one should be ashamed if they try to do something. Your team mates should be helping and encouraging you. You will get better it just takes time.

Possible events in track &field?

I think I have an idea of how you feel. My sophomore year, I was the slowest one on the team, even though I went to practice every day and ran on my own constantly. Eventually I learned to eat right (cut back on caffeine, load up on water, cut back on the fatty foods and load up on pasta) and to time myself when I ran so the next time I could try and beat that. Running is mental, so just believe you can finish and then work hard at it. Lift weights, run like a mad man (or like you stole something), and never give up. Keep up the mentality.

Track & field question!??!?

dont keep saying your the slowest one!! even if u are u still have enough dedication to run track. if u like track and running then just keep with it. it keeps u in shape and u make alot of new friends. also just run on your own every day. time yourself and push yourself to get a better time.

I`m a sprinter..jogging hurts..help?

I think it's too late...

Training should have strated earlier, 200 m should be easy enough to complete without your legs giving out.

Now that sounds really harsh so sorry if I was too rash. First off, this is good motivation for pre-season training next year.

Secondly, thats excatly how i'm feeling right now. But last meet I ran 5 events and I had the time of my life!

The 100 m is great to run because by the 5th heat everyone is slow and it's a 100. 100 is so easy you aren't even tired by the end. You could try that, it's fun!

Doesn't your coach give you a workout? I think he'd be pissed if you started doing some other workout...

Anyways, mix it up, some random workouts I've had to do..

800, 600, 400, 400, 400 - that was KILLER
400, 500, 600, 500, 400
100, 200, 300, 300, 200, 100
7 100s in some amount of time.
10 50s -works on acceleration
etc. make up some of your own too
6 150s
