Improving breathing, water intake...for running?
You have to run distance easy on the days you are not on the track. Interval days you must run at race pace or faster with short recovery to condition your body for the speed and stress of racing. Break down the races into parts mostly 400, 600, 800, or 1200 intervals. The shorter the intervals the less rest, the longer the interval give yourself a longer rest. If you are doing 4x400 in 1:05 rest 1 minute, if you are doing 2x1000 meters in 3:45 then rest 5 minutes. Play around with your times and rests, if you are running faster rest more, it you want to run at race pace then give yourself shorter recovery. You can run more repeats with less rest at slower times, or fewer repeats at faster times with more rest. Figure out your target race times and work out the interval pace you need to practice. This will condition your body to the stress and your mind as to what speed you are running in the race. During the race run even, do not go out too fast or too slow. It is much better to expend your energy over the entire race than to try to kick it in the last 200.Looking for summer workout for 400 m run?

take 30 sec break after 200m and 1min after 600m
dont take a break for the 1600m
800m warm up 2miles in 20min
1600m warm up 4miles aat least 40min
well those times look frickin fast to me.
the way that my track team distance runners is they go running...all over the place...for a long time..only stopping to cross the street...or if they are deathly tired...
the key is to put in as many miles in as you can get in
and you have to run faster through the pain
good luck and good racing
Track injuries/advice for motivation.. I'm so unexperienced..?
hey i am in 8th grade and those are almost the same times as i am getting. but anyways some things that i do is really focus on sprinting like 400 meter repeats which isnt short but isnt too long either. so that will help with both your finishing kick and speed for the 800. and the for the 1600 i wil go out on 4 or five mile runs to expand the lungs. then maybe do a few hill sprints or striders after that..but good luckMore Questions & Answers...
