I need help coming out of the blocks in the 4x100?


Im 16 varsity runner im running in regionals in 2 days and i feel like i cant come out the blocks good can someone please help me -Thanks

How do you run?

When you are starting from a stagger do not place the blocks so that they are parallel with the lane lines. Place the blocks so they are pointing toward the inside lane line in a manner that you will run straight for as long as possible before begining to run the curve. If you stand behind the blocks and look down the lane you will see where you want to run toward the apex of the curve, so that you can run in a straight line and not start running the curve immediately upon coming out of the blocks. When you get into the blocks you are square with the blocks so that your left hand is not near the starting line. In other words you are straight with your direction which means you are not twisted. I can only assume you know how to set your blocks as far as the placement of your foot pads and hands since you have been running long enough to be in the regionals. When you are in the blocks relax and breathe, when the starter says, "set" take a big breath and hold it until the gun, and then exhale. To come out of the blocks you should think of what you are going to do, not think about listening for the gun. I always teach that you can only think of one thing at a time so think about what starts your motion. Think about driving your arms. The lead arm, the one opposite your back leg should drive hard above your head, the other arm should drive back behind you. You will have to move your legs when you drive your arms. Stay low, do not look ahead. It should take you 8 to 10 steps to transition into an upright position.

believe or not most skools are changing their ralleys now
becuz they start to realize your same problem

and come out the block w/ so much instsity u'll look crazy

What is the best thing to eat before a 1500m run?

well wen u r in the block, dont look up. look down. when u are coming out, dont immediately pop up. stay down for about 3 STRIDES then build up your speed and explode! it worked for me. GOOD LUCK AT REGIONALS!

Where can I buy power gels/clif bloks?

We cant really help if you cant see how you get out of the blocks.

Anyways, just explode out of the blocks. lean forward. keep your feet always together.
