My coach told me that i do not have a SPRINTERS ENDURANCE?


sO hOW DO i GET A SPRINTERS eDURANCE? Before i quit the team. The coach is of no help to me because she is coaching out of a book. I also need ways to motivate me and my other sprinter friends? Please Help!

Since your coach is coaching out of a book it looks like she was never an actual track & field person and probably got thrown into it because she's a gym teacher. The same thing happened here. I am only coaching because the principal from the school is my friend and the athletic director who should have been coaching the track team is a wrestling guy who knew nothing about track & field so they asked me beacuse I am an ex olympian track & field athlete who actually did the sport.

She meant to say Speed Endurance not Sprinters Endurance.
Are you running the 200/400M? Even the 100M need some kind of speed endurance to sustain the speed developed at 50/60M to carry through all the way to the end, races that look like the other racer is pulling ahead/gaining speed after 60M is not true it's the other guy losing speed.

Speed-endurance is developed by sustaining maximum or near-maximum sprint speed over a relatively long distance. The intensity of such a training session requires a full recovery between repetitions.

Sprinting is an anaerobic activity and produces a large amount of lactic acid in the muscles. The 200m and 400m events, sprinters must develop a high-lactate tolerance. This training involves coupling two fast repetitions with a very short recovery, forcing the athlete to content with incomplete recovery and high-lactate presence on the second repetition.

When you joined the team you probably created a mental list of the reasons why you want to start running. Now you have to translate those "reasons why" into goals. Time to start putting them in action, maybe if you and your friends could use the workouts the caoch gives you and run them yourselves, put a different spin onto it and make it a personal group workout.
These willcange up your workouts and just a little different of what the coach is giving you anyway.

How do you run the 400m?

That doesn't even make sense. Endurance is for long-distance running. Sprinting is going very fast over a short distance.

Really it's just practice that does it. Are there any upperclassmen who have had a better coach, who can help you with a training schedule to build your sprinting speed?

you need to do lots of short bursts of runs. she means that you cannot run hard for short distances. so train on cardiovascular endurance.

umm ok yeah definately quit the team sprinters endurance makes no sense. all i can think is maybe she wants you to be able to sprint for longer periods of time but really the two are like total opposites. its like saying you don't have a goalies forward skills or a Halfbacks passing it just doesn't add up.

Train hard if you do well in your events your talent will speak for you. Sometimes criticism is a way to make you stronger as nothing can stop you. Listen to advise of how you can improve but turn a deaf ear to negitive speech.

"sprinters endurance" means being able to keep up that all out sprint for the duration of your run, and not fade at the end.

you can improve this by working intervals and hills, of longer distances than your normal event distance. if your event is the 100m, you should be running intervals of 200-400m.

One of my friends ran a 100 meter dash in 10.08 seconds, is that fast for an 8th grader?

More of a musclur thing when it comes to lasting in a sprint...I find anyway.try doing sprints for your workout instead of running distances at the same pace

what I mean by that is
for a 30 minute run you would break it down as follows
Jog 4 mins: run as fast as you can for 1
when that gets easy
Jog 3 Mins: run as fast as you can for 2
when that gets easy
Jog 2 MIns: run as fast as you can for 1
when that gets easy
jog for 1 min: run as fast as you can for 1

this will do wonders for your endurance

if you're using a treadmill the standard idea is to set the incline to 2 so that its like running outside


as far as mucular stamina goes lunges/squats
