Is it possible to be able to do 10 miles by August? Right now I can do 5 i haven't really tried to do more.

I dunno whether I should join cross country as my cca?

Generally, if you can run 5 miles you can run 10 miles. I assume that you are running at least 4 days a week and run 20 to 30 minutes per run. If that is the case, then increase your longest run each week by 10 to 15 minutes. Every third week run the same amount then increase again for 2 weeks. You should have no trouble getting to 10 miles. You can also start increasing the length of one of your runs mid week by 5 or 10 minutes but keep it shorter than your longest run.

Do track cleats help with speed?

yeah, just keep pushing yourself! (not farther than you can tho, keep healthy) Really, you can do anything you put your mind to. So, you have about 2 months, practice makes perfect and you'll never know 'til you try right? It sounds like you're already healthy doing 5miles so it can't be that much of a stretch. All you have to do is add extra distance every time you run until you reach your goal. Just don't try to do it all at once, you have to build up your endurence.

Help me please?

Yes you can do it. Just gradually increase your distance by a half a mile each week and you'll be there. Good Luck!

I recently took up running. i can run about a quater of a mile then my lungs can't take it anymore..?

nothing is impossible...it's just tough.best of luck!

Running question?

I'm sure if your doing 5 miles now, you'll be able to do 10 miles before August.

You should be running 5 miles EACH DAY, 5 DAYS a week.
Give yourself 2 days rest (But not in a row) each week.

Gradually, increase the amount of miles each day.
Like next week try running 6 miles a few days, but don't over-do it.

Good luck! :)

What inspires you the most about running?

yes it its possible as long as you believe and if you do 1 lap everyday you would have completed your goal

Are there any tracks i can run on in washington dc?

Unfortrunately, your question sees more questions asked than answers.

But in general, I assume you can run 5 miles right now. And you could do this 4-5 times a week. If so, then if you start now, you should be able to get up to 10 miles a day (if that is what you are asking).

If you want to do 10-miles a day, then you need to gently increase your training miles over the summer.

Also follow a program of hard/easy and hard/easy/easy training. Your hard days will belonger runs (or speed work-outs. Do you do spped work-outs?)

Make either Saturday or Sunday your long day. This will see you go from just 5 miles to 7-miles one week, then down to 5 the next week, then 6 mile sthe following week, etc.

So a lot more to it.

Is there a reason why you want to run 10 miles in 1 run?

Is 30 seconds a good time for...?

If you run 5 miles now and have been doing so for a month to 6 weeks then you can run over 6 miles now. You can increase your distance about 25% every month to 6 weeks. If you try to increase too much you will get injured.

Can you become a faster runner if you keep running on a treadmill?

Start out running three miles a day. Six days a week. Each week, increase by 1/2 a mile. But one day each week, run one mile farther. Every four weeks, take one of the six days and run as far as you can. You can do it!
