How do you run faster if you have Athsma?

See, I have a little case of athsma and i really want to run faster, short or long distance. But I always end stoping because I feel I have to take a breath and i cant run faster after i do that. I guess im trying to ask 2 Questions, How do you run fast ? and How do you run fast With athsma? Please help

What should i eat and drink just before a 1500m race that i have tomorrow? And when should i eat/drink them?

People have two types of muscle in their bodies; fast twitch and slow twitch. Fast twitch leads to higher speed in running; slow is required for power lifting. You have what you have so if you are not a world class runner now, you will not be later.

As for your Asthma (spell check works wonders), verify with a doctor if you really have that. Many times kids are out of shape from lack of exercise (even if not over weight) and have trouble breathing; that is inaccurately called asthma.

If you are really diagnosed with asthma, talk to your doctor about what medicine can have a positive effect on your breathing and lung capacity. Either way, exercise will increase lung capacity and endurance. Increased endurance will allow you to train better and ultimately reach your full potential for speed in both sprints and middle/long distances. Good Luck!

If I can run 4 miles in 33 minutes now, how many weeks should I train to run 13 miles in 105 minutes?

well i have athsma too and i'm fast. all you have to do is just run everyday and pace yourself for most of the time for about 15 to 20 minutes. then you push yourself a little bit but not too much. your conditioning will be better and should improve in running. if you start to feel tired and think you cant run anymore then just stop and just walk. take a break then try it again or do it the next day. just work hard at it and always keep an inhaler somewhere that you can get easily. this worked for me. if this doesnt work then dont feel bad because some great athletes had athsma before like jerome bettis and dominque wilkins. just remember not to over do it.

I am runner who has run a 4:20 mile ; I want to lower to 4:00?

I would have to say talk to your Dr.. maybe you are starting out to fast to begin with and it is making you our of breath opposed to it being caused by the asthma. get a recommendation from him and then do speed and long runs. Runners World's website has lots of training advise on how to improve speed

What is a good 5k time for a 9th grader??

Take your inhaler. Doooooh..

Terry Fox1!?

I'm a track runner and i thought my world went upside down when i found out i had asthma but come to find out it was only seasonal [only when the fall and winter months came around] I do breathing exercises, since ive learned some from the hospital i work at, some respiratory therapists [who smokes, how ironic] told me to try simple breathing exercises just liket those deep sea free diving people.

You sit down in a quiet place, place your arms behind your head so that you diaphram can open up [or have more room to expand] and with a deep breath, breathe in for as long as you can and then exhale completely. Not only does this help me but it clears my mind as well...I do this about 4-6 times whenever i feel the need and it helps if you do it whenever you think about it

This technique is really good at helping out runners but some have natural ability to do unbelievable things. And always take your inhaler 20-30 mins before running you'll notice a difference and when you take your puffs from your inhaler i space them out by a minute to 2 mins before taking another puff

Now for your second question, to get faster, the secret is a combination of working out [which you already do i presume] and weights...but if you dont like to lift weights you can go to eastbay.com and get this..
