Treadmill, Stairmaster, Ellipses, or Outdoor Running?

Ok, so, straight up, I'm in a contest with a friend, and we're going to see who's in better shape after 2 months. What's better: Treadmill, Stairmaster, Ellipses, or Outdoor Running? Any tips?

Nice! I'm very happy to see that running is one of your choices..running owns everything when it comes to getting in shape.

So yeah, if the weather holds up, defiently run outdoors. It helps to run around other people like in parks or something, too, because then you will feel motivated to keep running and not stop, and maybe even run for a longer/faster time, too.

And if the weather is not to good, the next definite choice would be the treadmill. Although it's not the best, it's the next closest thing to running outdoors.

Also, another thing for getting in good shape is eating 5 fruits/vegetables a day. It works wonders in terms of fitness.

I get somewhat of a burning sensation in my quad when i run?

stair master for sure!!!!!!!!

Tips on sprinting?? How to get better besides pracice...techniques?

Nothing better than the outdoors but when weather is inclement than the other mechanical equipment will have to do.

Where can i find this running jersey?

outdoor fresh air and you may just move more than you expect

Do I need new running shoes?

Personally i think that outdoors is better. I mean using the treadmill or any other apparatus like that, you can stop whenever you feel like it whereas if you're jogging outside when you want to head back home you still have to re-run from where you stopped.

The advantage of indoors equipment is that you can use them at any time, even when weather is bad.

What are high school tracks made of?

Out door running because the elements will give you more to work with than the controlled envirnoments of machines. Hit the trails and the hills.

Track spikes - fit and where to put the spikes?

Outdoor running is my favorite. You're not limited to what you can run like you are on a treadmill. You can do slow inclining hills or fast inclining hills, run on trails, or do fast long stretches. All of these focus on strengthening different parts of your body. But to get in shape you would want to do a combination of all the things you listed. Also try weight lifting. Strengthening your core will really help with running and make it easier on your back.

Im 12 love soccer, track and softball anyone else?

personally i like outdoor running because i get the scenery but ellipticals are good to because there is not as much pressure on the knee but you should do all four they are all great for getting into shape

What are some tips on high jumping?

Run hills outside.
Do push ups and situps/back exercises to strengthen your body core.

When you run hills (outside only, not treadmill), you will get a better workout than:

the treadmill (running flat surfaces outside is better than the treadmill)

A better workout than the Stairmaster, since the hills will give you the incline to build up your hams, quads and gluts

A better workout than the Elliptical, since you will be running and the dirt is soft on your joints

It's not easy, so build up to it.

Are pumas good for running?

It depends on what you're going for.

Stairmasters will kill your quads and really work your endurance and mental strength, especially after a 45 minute session at a rapid pace. It isn't the best measure of being in shape.

Treadmills are safer ways of running the street. Be prepared with an ipod because the scenery gets really boring. At the local gym and easy to figure out. Doesn't really adjust to sprints/jogs.

Ellipses are best on your joints. No aches in your knees or ankles. No worries about impact. Easy to adjust to and has a point where it loses its effect.

Outdoor running, just make sure to pick a safe route and go against the flow of traffic. Get to pick your own pace. Pretty chill and you get a change of pace. Be aware of your surroundings and remember however far you run out, you have to run back.

My personal favorite is to find a local high school and just hit up the track. You'll find other people to help you out and train and its easy to track your progress using times and distances. However, it can get boring, if you don't mix up your workouts. the good news is outdoor high school track season is opening up and local coaches would probably be more to help you out with sprint training and strength endurance.

Breathing when running-I've started to run 1-2 blocks @ a time, but i cant ever seem to catch my breath?

outdoor running and if you run some hills up and down you will get those quads and gluts in shape. besides being outdoors you get a change of scenery inside of moving in place.
