For some reason when i run i ALWAYS accelerate slow..but in the end i win the race for like 100m?

Yes, hills do benefit you they are good training for endurance and running a marathon is a lot different than a Half , Runners World and Cool running websites have some great tip on training and training program. Not all Marathon courses are flat and a lot of them put a hill somewhere between mile 18-20 and that is where the challenge for most runners begin. The last 10K of the Marathon is the toughest and is why getting those long runs of at least 20 miles are important. check the web site of the Marathon you are running or want to run a lot of them have an elevation guide for the course that shows the hills. February 17th will be too soon the get those long runs in if you haven't been doing them. Think about taking your race in steps maybe 5 mile increments and don't think how much further you have to go. A marathon is basically two races the first 20 and the last 10K is where th challenge begins... Check out both those running sites. Good Luck

What are the best type of shoes to get if your running track or cross country?

Hills are great. If you can do the run through hills, just think how easy it will be to do the workout on a flat surface.
