Is there a place in Arkansas that makes and delivers varsity lettermen jackets?
it really varies on the person and the type of results they perceive. if a person runs sprints [fast pace sets for short time] they will get stronger and build muscle. this will lead to gaining muscle, thus weight. this also enables the metabolism to speed up for longer periods.if a person wants to loss weight, then the best way is long distance--this will make the person look leaner, no muscle no fat. this speeds up the metabolism for that moment and a while after.
if a person joggs/walks then this will make your circulation system more effective. this at some times will loss weight but mainly help your blood circulate throughout your body. this is ideal for elder people.
if all you want to gain is flexibility, then i would recommend to run for 30-60 minutes a day. this includes stretches. focus on stretches that will stretch your muscles. try yoga/martial art stretches, they really stretch you out.
good luck
Ideally, you should get an hour of exercise a day. That doesn't have to be all running--you can mix in biking, weight lifting, etc.
If you're looking to be aerobic capacity (make your heart stronger), you need to run for at least 12 minutes. To start burning fat, you need to run for at least 30 mins.
If you want to be more flexible and strong, run hills! A hill workout is like going to the gym and working on your legs. You don't have to run fast or even the steepest hills you can find; you can run easy and rolling hills--this will make you healthier and stronger quick! Make sure you stretch afterward to increase your flexibility.
