I just joined the track team and I need help?


Question:So to get rid of my last few pounds that wont seem to go away, I joined the track team in hope that it will work. So my first day was friday. Every day I go to the gym and run there and do ALOT of muscle work and cardio, etc. plus I used to run track and play hockey so I thought it'd be easy.

WELL...it wasnt. I was always in the back. Everything felt so heavy and the air was very cold. My chest felt like it was gonna cave it.

I always breathe in through my nose, out through my mouth but when I was running track I just couldnt no matter how hard I tried. We ran six 500s at a steady pace but I don't know why it was so hard!

What should I do? I wanna run so I can loose more weight and I dont wanna be behind and even though it was my first say can anyone give me any insight on what to do? some sort of training I can do? Any sort of help will be appreciated!

What you should do is hang in. It may take a while for you to feel comfortable. If you are in reasonably good shape, you may be surprised how fast you improve.

There is nothing wrong with breathing through your mouth -- in and out. Cold air is not going hurt your lungs. I've run practices and even one meet when it was snowing. If you look at good runners, they all breath through their mouths. Trying to breathe through you nose is like drinking through a straw. That my help get rid of the chest problem.

just running and working out WONT let u loose weight not trying to be mean at all but u have to eat healthy too! u no wat else... u have to run A WHOLE LOT i no u said u do but the more u do it the more u get used to it and the more it is easier! hoped i helped!

Tips for running track (sprinting)?

I'll tell you what I tell all of my new runners- It takes 21 days to make a hobby a habit. It will hurt for about 3 weeks before it gets better. Just hang in there and I promise it will get better.
